One in five Australians experience a mental illness in any year.

The November 2016 Salvos Legal Lecture Series explores the implications of this significant social issue for legal practice.

The program features expert speakers addressing a range of topics including: the Mental Health Review Tribunal, the role of a Guardian-ad-Litem, the interaction between addiction, mental illness and the criminal justice system, effective approaches for working with clients suffering from mental illness, and strategies for promoting the psychological well-being of legal practitioners.

Who should attend?

We encourage anyone in the justice community to attend, particularly those working with clients suffering from mental illness.

Participants can claim one MCLE/ CPD point for each one-hour session attended up to a total of five points for the full-day.

Flexible per session, half day or full-day options are available, as well as discounted not-for-profit rates.

All funds raised from this event go to fund the work of Salvos Legal Humanitarian, providing pro bono legal assistance to vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community.

Full Rate

$400 for full day
$250 Morning – 3 sessions (9.30am – 1.00pm)
$175 Afternoon – 2 sessions (2.00pm – 4.00pm)
$100 Individual Session (per session)

Government, Community Sector or Not for Profit:
$200 for full day
$125 Morning – 3 sessions (9.30am – 1.00pm)
$85 Afternoon – 2 sessions (2.00pm – 4.00pm)
$50 Individual Session (per session)

Venue

The Lecture Series venue is The Salvation Army’s new headquarters located at 261-265 Chalmers Street, Redfern.

Transport

The Lecture Series venue is an easy 10-minute walk from Redfern Station or 2-minute walk from city bus stops on Elizabeth Street adjacent to Redfern Park. Street parking (metered) is also available.
